the essentials lab - client work

Last month I got to shoot for the lovely Anne, the owner and creator of The Essentials Lab.

The Essentials Lab is exactly what it says on the bottle: the bare essentials of holistic, time-tested fragrance and beauty. It’s a luxury range of home fragrances, perfumes, and face and body oils that verge on hedonistic.

The Essentials Lab has three main product lines:

  • natural home fragrances (2 hand and body washes, 6 home fragrances and 1 pillow mist)

  • natural body fragrances (6 fragrances)

  • luxury oil infusions (body oil, face serum and oil perfumes)

If you're wondering - yes I did spray some/most/all the fragrances during the shoot. Inspiration comes quicker with hedonistically beautiful scents lingering in the air, doesn't it?

Here’s a shot I took of the product line (excluding the three perfume oils):

First things first, I liaised with Anne to discuss her vision and to get an understanding of her visual aesthetic for her products. Then I spammed her website, Facebook and Instagram to check out her brand.

Next came the mood board - a collection of images gathered together into collage form that represent the mood, colour palette and style of images that best represent the range of products. Anne and I worked together to create the mood board.  We shared images via email back and forth and once I got the brand aesthetic in my head, used Canva to create the mood board. What do you think?
